Ames Vision Homeschool Basketball exists to bring glory to God by providing a Christ-centered basketball program in which all are given the opportunity to play for His glory.

Ames Vision is a Christ-centered homeschool basketball program where athletes of all skill levels grow in basketball, character, and faith through teamwork, sportsmanship, and competition. We compete against other homeschool teams and Christian schools.

The season runs from mid-November through late February, with practices beginning in mid-October. Teams typically have 2–3 days per week of practices and/or games. Practices are held in Ames and surrounding communities, including Boone, Nevada, and Randall. The younger teams play games within a ~90 minute drive of Ames (e.g. Boone, Des Moines, Eldora, Fort Dodge, Mason City, and Oskaloosa). The high school teams often play in those same locations, but they also travel to out-of-town tournaments too. In the past, they have gone to York, NE; Lincoln, NE; and Kalona, IA. They have also considered games in the Minneapolis area, Kansas City area, Quad Cities, and Madison, WI area. Families are responsible for transportation to all practices and games, but some do carpool together.

We welcome families to join our community as players grow in their skills, confidence, and character both on and off the court.

GRADE SCHOOL

Grade school teams typically include players in 4th-6th grade. Players may move between levels based on ability, effort, maturity, attitude, and team composition.

JUNIOR HIGH

Junior high teams typically include players in 5th–8th grade. Players may move between levels based on ability, effort, maturity, attitude, and team composition.

At the junior high level, coaches make an effort to provide sensible playing time to all players though it can vary especially during tournaments.

HIGH SCHOOL

JV and varsity teams include high school ages. Players may move between levels based on ability, effort, maturity, attitude, and team composition.

At the varsity and JV levels, coaches use their discretion for playing time. All players participate over the course of the season, though frequency may vary.

COACHES

Faith. Character. Relationships.

Our coaches are volunteers, typically parents of Vision athletes. They have undergone a background check before being approved to work with students.

Coaches serve as Christian role models, committed to a coaching code of conduct that promotes integrity, respect, encouragement, and Christ-like leadership. Our success is measured not only by athletic achievement, but by growth in character, faith, and relationships.
